The Genome Research Institute chose GE Peck as a technology partner because of their experience integrating bleeding-edge technology into a modern biomedical infrastructure. Our IT infrastructure was growing quickly and becoming unwieldy. From an IT perspective GRI is comprised of supercomputers, specialized scientific software, and a huge variety of servers, desktops, laptops, and PDAs scattered across the institute. Our challenge to GE Peck was to integrate these diverse technologies into a logical and manageable infrastructure. Further, we needed remote access to our data and many of our proprietary programs. Of course all of this needed to be done in the presence of growing security threats. Keeping our data safe, from hackers and disasters, always tops a research organization’s priorities list. The guys at GE Peck implemented an infrastructure that allows GRI researchers to use any IT resource from any computer. I can run [Microsoft] Windows programs from my Mac[intosh] or control the supercomputers from a laptop in my hotel room. They also centralized our file stores which makes it easier to provide backup and failover protection. Our data is safer yet more accessible than ever before. GE Peck has exceeded all of our expectations and I absolutely recommend them!
